I love this time of year when the trees and flowers are so alive, the daylight hours expand and we all collectively awaken from our winter hibernation to anticipate fun activities outside.
I have high expectations for the summer of 2016. Here is how I picture it in my head:
Lots and Lots of Photo Shoots: Yes, you know I’m excited to play with this natural light and get some bold new images for my portfolio and this website. I want to make the most of every opportunity to shoot this year. I’ve already done several projects including the ClassmateUSA Swimsuit Calendar last month. As of right now, the dates I have available to schedule photo shoots include:
- April 23-24;
- May 7-8, 21-22;
- June 4-5, 18-19;
- July 2-3, 16-17, 30-31;
- August 13-14, 27-28.
That’s 20 opportunities this summer to make something great happen. If you are a model or a client wanting to collaborate with me on one of those dates, let me know ASAP because they are subject to availability as projects arise.
Fun with Friends: Chattanooga is a great place to be in the summertime, and I am looking forward to doing lots of things since I live downtown, including:
The Chattanooga Market: This open-air market is the place to be on Sunday afternoons in the Scenic City. It reopens for the year on April 24th (the season lasts til Nov. 20).
Chattanooga Lookouts Double AA baseball – The stadium is literally a couple of blocks from my apartment. It’s a cheap night out on the town. The rival Birmingham Barons will be in town on April 25th.
The Black Jacket Symphony Performs Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon: Looking forward to this concert April 30 at the Tivoli, just around the corner from my apartment.
ZZ Top at the Tivoli on May 3rd.
Nightfall Concert Series – I love this weekly gathering in the heart of downtown, just a few blocks from my apartment. It lasts from May 6-Aug 26, so if you want to find me on Friday nights, here’s where to look.
The Tennessee Whiskey Festival: Coming May 21st, this is a fun chance to sample some new spirits. Uncorked, an event where you get to try foods and wine from local restaurants, is the same day. If you’re in town that weekend, you can cheer on the IRONMAN triathalon competitors as they make their way through downtown.
Chattabrewga: Enjoy 40+ craft beers at the First Tenn Pavilion on June 4th.
Riverbend: This is the big one, a 9 day music festival with multiple stages that is 4 blocks from my apartment. Well work getting the badge for the week if you can make it more than one day. I’m looking forward to hearing Heart on June 11th, Permagroove on the 12th, Blackberry Smoke on the 15th, REO Speedwagon on the 17th, and Here Come the Mummies and 38 Special on the 18th. If you are going to be at these shows, hit me up and we can hang.
Pops on the River & Fireworks: Fourth of July weekend fun at Coolidge Park with fireworks and the symphony.
Cirque du Soleil at McKenzie Arena at UTC: I am thinking of taking my daughter to watch this high intensity acrobatic performance.
The Southern Brewer’s Festival: Enjoy more than 30 microbrews from across the country along with live music on the riverfront downtown on August 20.
As you can see, lots of opportunities for fun and creativity. I imagine myself enjoying afternoons with friends, maybe a special lady friend, sipping cold beers and listening to music. I’m not dating anyone right now, but maybe there’s someone I’m destined to meet.
