Promotional Photos Prove Useful for Alabama Photographer John Dersham

It has been extremely gratifying to witness my photography gain a tremendous amount of exposure in the publicity campaign to promote a new photography book by my friend and mentor John Alexander Dersham.

The latest is this use of my portrait of John with his large format camera on the cover of Alabama Living magazine, the publication of electric cooperatives. They’ve featured my work several times in the past when I did freelance work for them, but this one is really special because I love knowing that some people may be inspired to purchase John’s book, “My Alabama John Dersham Photographs a State.”

I love photography books. Nothing against the books that are mostly text, but a book that exists entirely to serve as a picture gallery exploring specific themes is so delightful to me. I am proud to add Photographer John Dersham’s new photo book to my collection.

My Alabama: John Dersham Photographs a State – May 15, 2019 by John Dersham (Author), Bo Jackson (Foreword)

This beautiful hardcover book highlights the beauty of my home state at a time when it sorely needs some good publicity. John told me he spent four years putting the book together, and the effort certainly shows in this spellbinding collection of landscapes in all four seasons, reflecting the diversity of Alabama as it celebrates its 200th Anniversary of statehood.

Happy Star Wars Day! May the Fourth Be With You…

I’m relaxing at home in Fort Payne after a week that included having surgery and closing a chapter in my own story.

I guess you could say I am a bit like Luke Skywalker collapsed in the snow of Hoth. I’ve removed myself from a dire situation after listening to my intuition, now I’m physically strained as my body mends from a stressful event. That voice is guiding me about what to do next, same as Obi Wan appeared to Luke as an apparition in the blizzard with instructions to incite the challenges that will propel our heroes on their next adventure and lead to sacrifice and growth.
