Alabama Model Photographers

I had the opportunity this week to do another photo shoot with the lovely Savannah, a new model from Alabama. I usually stay away from railroad tracks (too cliche), but the railroad bridge in Gadsden offered an interesting backdrop for a portrait session. As an Alabama model photographer, I’m always looking for great settings and awesome new faces.

Return to Auburn University

Last week, my sister Anita and I traveled to our shared Alma Mater, Auburn University, on our way home from Pensacola. Neither of us had visited the campus in almost a decade.

A couple of years ago, I started an online gallery selling my images of Scenic locations. It included lots of photos from Tuscaloosa, but none from the Loveliest Village on the Plains. With these new images, I have remedied that.

Anita and I drove around to take note of the changes. Lots of parking decks that would’ve been nice when she and I walked a mile to Haley Center. We also noticed how the students have tiny backpacks, presumably filled with tablets instead of the 40-pounds of textbooks that we used to lug around.

Auburn’s season opener in college football is this coming weekend, a rematch of the 2010 National Championship Game that we won. Wish I could travel to watch it, but not in the cards right now. I’ll be watching on TV and yelling, “War Eagle”!

I’m starting a new blog series called “Stories Behind the Images.” I’ll share select images from the archives and reveal details from its creation.

This is Alois Schweda, a man I met in the early 1990s when this portrait was made to accompany a feature story I did about him for the Times-Journal newspaper.

Promotional Photos Prove Useful for Alabama Photographer John Dersham

It has been extremely gratifying to witness my photography gain a tremendous amount of exposure in the publicity campaign to promote a new photography book by my friend and mentor John Alexander Dersham.

The latest is this use of my portrait of John with his large format camera on the cover of Alabama Living magazine, the publication of electric cooperatives. They’ve featured my work several times in the past when I did freelance work for them, but this one is really special because I love knowing that some people may be inspired to purchase John’s book, “My Alabama John Dersham Photographs a State.”

My Passion for Video and Filmmaking Continues

Although I am primarily known for still photography, my love of the moving image continues to drive me. Despite extensive experience creating videos, I hesitate to brand myself too strongly as an expert at video. To me, if you call yourself that, you better be ready to deliver whatever a client can throw at you.

I’ve regularly used non-linear editing systems like Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, and Sony Vegas to splice imported video to create clips for YouTube or social media posts.

When I was a kid, I idolized filmmaker Steven Spielberg and wanted to become a film director. Life threw other circumstances my way, and after studying Mass Communications at Auburn University, I became a journalist/photographer/marketer who gets to do video as part of my jobs.

I’m proud to announce that I will once again be the official photographer for the Shine Fashion Show in April. The annual event, now in its 5th year, benefits the US-based nonprofit, Love Without Reason.

Atlanta fashion photographerThe Fashion Show and Celebrity Walk-Off on April 6th will be an exciting evening of fun, fashion, and food!

International Designers Sushma Patel and the Afro-Centric Network will bring their outstanding fashion lines, an impressive array of hors d’ oeuvres from the kitchen of The Sonata will be open to all of our guests during this event, and a wonderful collection of Silent Auction items will be on display.

There will be door prizes and opportunities to pose with your favorite models at the event!

The photos you see here are from a previous fashion show for the same organization that I photographed in Chattanooga.

The runway will not only feature experienced models, but also some of Atlanta’s own celebrities!

Watch and cheer for your favorite celebrity as they swagger in designer style down the lit runway at the Sonesta ES Suites Gwinett Place Atlanta in Duluth, GA! Doors open at 6 PM. Tickets are $40.

New Work: Chattanooga Website Photography and SEO for Resilience Physical Therapy
  • Posted By : sstiefel/

My work appears on another new website, https://resilienceptchatt.com/.

physical therapy photographyIt is the website for Meagan Moyers, a longtime physical therapist who has started her own practice as a postpartum physical therapist. You can find her at 400 East Main Street #140B in Chattanooga, on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. Very nice person!

In addition to photography, I performed SEO work on this website, developing the keywords that would form the backbone of the website and determine what content followed. This meant taking a deep dive into exploring pelvic floor dysfunction for pregnant and postpartum women. Not exactly something I was knowledgeable about, but that’s what I love about my work: I am constantly learning new things and translating industry jargon into everyday language so I can help others to discover them as well.
